10 Tips for planning destination wedding in Dubai

Destination wedding is great idea for couples who like to travel and also a perfect chance to grant a little get away for the guests. Wedding is an exciting occasion on its own, imagine spicing it up with a thrill from visiting a new country, and a joy of a sunny weather, pristine beaches and a bit of great shopping. Guess what? Dubai has it all! We have planned few destination weddings, and I have to say: they are always fun. Seeing friends and families who flown from all over the world to celebrate your big day is heart melting. But there are many aspects to be considered when planning wedding from far. We have put 10 useful tips, if you decided to say ‘I do” away from home. Here they are:

  1. Decide what kind of wedding you want to have. It will narrow down search criteria. Whether it’s beach resort, golf club or boutique hotel in the dessert, Dubai offers a lot of supreme options.
  2. Start planning ahead. Wedding season in Dubai from October to May, and it’s better if you secure the venue and accommodation well in advance. Some venues offer an earlier bird deals if you contact them well in advance.
  3. Prepare a guest list and send save the dates ahead of time. Most of the people make their travel arrangements 9-12 month in advance. You don’t want them to miss your big day.
  4. Hire a wedding planner with a strong knowledge of the field. You need to have an advocate and problem solver, who will deal with issues, run your errands, have your back and finally help you to save money and time.
  5. Choose your suppliers carefully. Luckily internet nowadays has all answers. Reputable vendors have their presence online and you can easily check their work on social media and read reviews by other brides.
  6. Double your wedding with the honey moon, by having it at the same destination.
  7. Create a wedding website for your guests. Inject it with your wedding program, accommodation options, information about the destination, things to do and other tips.
  8. Think about your guests and make them feel special. Prepare flip flops or umbrellas if you are having a beach wedding, or stock up with pashminas if you host reception outdoor in winter time. If your guests are staying in the same place, arrange with hotel to send them coffee and fresh croissants the morning after the wedding.
  9. Thank your family and friends for coming all the way. Prepare thoughtful giveaways.
  10. Create a special ambiance to give your guests the feel of the place. It could be something simple but related to the culture and history of the destination. Hire Arabic dancer or serve a bowl of dates. It could be anything.
