Grace and Awongo had their wedding on March 5, 2016 at Habtoor Grand Beach Resort & Spa by Mariott Autograph Collection.
Grace contacted me 6 months before her wedding, but the actual planning began in December last year when we sealed the venue.
Grace has an amazing bubbly personality and working with her was absolute pleasure. She knew what she wanted and combining our common ideas we did very well.
We communicated through WhatsApp and telephone calls, exchanging pictures and ideas. Our first face to face meeting happened less than a week before the wedding day, when she flew in from Lagos to see the venue with her own eyes and to run some errands related to the big day. We immediately became friends and both felt like we’ve known each other for years.
I met the groom Awongo 2 days before the wedding and was amazed by their love and care for each other.
Initially they were planning to have 70 guests, but closer to the date the number increased to 100.
The blessing ceremony was held at the garden of the hotel. It’s a lovely venue with a fountain and lavish palm trees background. After an official part conducted by the Pastor, the couple took some photos at the beach.
The guests proceed to the ballroom around 6 p.m. where we had two beautiful hostesses assisting them with the siting arrangement. It was indeed a right decision to hire some help from outside, as sometimes it can get confusing with large number of guests, even though we had a huge sitting chart at the ballroom foyer. Our ushers escorted each guest individually to the right table, so when the couple arrived they were a spot on.
Their entry song was a mix of African beats. For the first dance Grace selected a song by Sade “Your love is king”. Oh, and I forgot to mention aisle walk song “Grace” by Michel W Smith. Lovely song! I suggest you to check it out on youtube in case you haven’t heard it before.
The entertainment, including Dj and MC were Nigerian talents provided by Save The Date.
Cake cutting was done before the buffet opening. The couple had 4 tiers cake, decorated with gold touch and addable roses. The cake was by the hotel.
We had a special hashtag for Grace’s wedding, and we ensured that all guests were informed about it, so they could post a lot of pictures to Instagram. In the ballroom we got a large screen installed where we showed an interactive feed under #GRANGO2016. And it’s another great tip for brides to be. Guests loved it!
The food was delicious, the team of Habtoor Grand provided an amazing service. Special thanks goes to Anita.
